Well anyone who owns one of these, should take it apart, sell the steel and use the money for buying something which is at least a bit safe!

Got this from the delorea website: His target was to design and build a car that would be "As safe as possible, reliable, comfortable, handle and perform well, be enormous fun to drive and unmistakably elegant in appearance." And completely falled on all accounts!

The worst thing about is if you were'nt already dead it would be a nightmare for the emergency services to cut your body out of the car due to it been made out off mangled up stainless steel!! Fucking death trap indeed!

Though the DeLoreans`design dates way back to the early 80ies,its safety performance is poor indeed.40 mp/h means appr.65km/h,todays standard speed for the NCAP-offset crash test.But this was a crash test with 100% overlap.Mercedes tested the W201,W124 and W 126(designs that have about the same age as the De Lorean)according to the current NCAP rules,and despite-with the execpetion of the S-class-deformation being somewhat significant,loads on the occupants remained uncritically low.
