This video don't demonstrates anything, FIRST: this is not a SUV is a 4 by 4 authentic, TWO: the Space is minimum 12 years newer than the disco, if u want to do things like that, please do it with the same year cars (disco 3 vs new space) or something like that. No the disco 1 vs the newest space in the world, 'cause obiously a newer car will have better security. I know that 4 by 4 don't have the same security but its the same if u compare a Fiat with an Audi.... :S

I live in the United States where there are nice paved roads. The most aggressive drivers ARE the SUVs, with one person, doing 90 mph while talking on their cell phone. An SUV used for off-road purposes in fine but an overwhelming majority of SUVs here in the USA never leave the pavement. Most of them actually could not handle off-road conditions.

That disco was designed in what, 89? Considering that I'd say an fair effort.

Actually it usually has something to do with where they live. Eg. in Qatar the roads are horrible and everyone is an aggressive driver. A 4WD here just makes life more easy and less stressfull.

People don't buy SUVs for safety and this is just another bit of proof of that. They buy them to compensate for shortcomings, physical or otherwise.

I take it with the name calling you have a tiny brain.I agree with the 5 star cars are safer than cars of old in normal round town driving,motorway driving is faster and accidents more horrific.You stick to your window licking mobile and I hope your electrics don't fail like most Renaults are known for,not to mention breaking down...alot,I know because I had a laguna phase 2,also a 5 star car.

Families would be safer in them and come off less badly injured than non-tested cars that haven't been tested or indeed have poor or mediocre safety EURONCap ratings of 1-3 which ARE poorer than 4 and 5 star EURONCap cars would ever be-FACT. Durbrain,grow up,your rolling down the motorway after a blowout,the espase hasn't got a roll cage only airbags and airbags deflate.Not to mention any other vehicle hitting the espase.Think about it.I think you have an espace and you won't have a bad word said about it.

You really are simple.You can predict a crash then?,if you read what I posted then you would see what I actually put,read it again an understand it.44 ton truck vs a 5 star mpv.or a 5 star mpv going 70 mph or above and oh...a blowout happens.You won't have a chance.

@skyline748 What do you mean it doesn't matter? If you value your family's safety then a safe 5star MPV is what you should get and have. The Disco I and Disco II are poorer and you'd have little to no chance of survival,and merely fitting airbags to an old design that has been merely tarted up on a Disco II(and merely fitting airbags to a Disco I)to look good cosmetically doesn't dramatically improve the result you can have all the airbags you like on series I/II discos but they'll never do well

It does'nt matter what vehicle you are driving at the time of a crash,4x4,mpv old or new.There for it is a fair test,no one knows when,where or what you are going to crash into.How about a 44 ton wagon and a new ncap 5 star mpv!!

The Disco I and II seem to be terrible in crashes and quite frightening;I would rather have the excellent euroncap 4 star Disco 3 which is better in a crash than this old coke can of a Disco.

This isn't really a fair test. The Espace used is a lot newer and no doubt a lot more expensive than the 300Tdi Discovery that was used. If you did I direct comparison between two cars of the same age and value, but one a Discovery and the other an MPV, then I expect the outcome would be very different. The chassis rails in the Land Rover dissipate the shock down the length of the body better than monocoque designs do, but obviously newer cars are going to be better in accidents.
