BTW, The current Impreza STi is still VERY active in rally racing (P-WRC, IRC, Rally America, etc) and WRC ace Tommi Makinen (formerly associated with the Mitsu EVO) produces Group N rally cars based off the Hatch STi.

The withdrawal of Subaru World Rally Team (and Suzuki) was due to the Financial state of the Economy, and the forthcoming change to SUPER2000 rules by the FIA. The hatch design is BETTER than the sedan cuz it achieves a lower POLAR MOMENT OF INERTIA, enabling it to do quick direction changes and keeps it more stable at high speeds. The latest WRC cars benefit from this design (Citroen/Ford). Where did you get the "too low and not designed for rally" info from? Do you even watch WRC?

its far from perfect in a couple aspects, but its a nice reliable rally spec car.

while its born from rally racing, the 08+ STi was designed too differently which caused Team Subaru to withdraw from Rally racing. the body is just too low and its just not designed for rally, hopefully in the next STi they will go back to a better body style.

its not about performance packages you stupid greasemonkey, what he is talking about is that subaru can squeeze 300+HP form a 2.5L H4 while ford can only muster 319HP from a 4.5L V8. I've seen 2.0L 4bangers push 600HP and ive seen 4L V8's push over 800HP...its not about performance packages, its about engine builds. the WRX has the same engine package as the STi, but the STi has more power and torque. learn your shit before you spew your crap

well if they would put some sort of performance package on the mustang it wouldnt hold back, i dont understand why they chose a regular mustang gt, the shelby package is only looks. that subaru has the highest performance package available.

muscle cars are all about strainght line performance, you cant put it against a rally car and say the rally car is better cause it turns better..

straight line driving doesnt determine a better car, its the all around performance, the 08 STi is maybe their 3rd best model, after the 03 STi and the Subaru Impreza 22b

maybe not in the turns but atleast beat it on the 1/4 mile

@PonyCarEnthusiast the shelby GT 500 has a live rear axle, it would perform far worse than what was shown in this video, an 04 cobra wouldn't do much better
