As said the whole point of this test is to compare old cars vs new. A Volvo C30 would plow trough that 940 as well. This is just to bust the common myth that old big cars are so safe.

Just to set a few things straight: 1) Yes, the Volvo is old and the Renault is new. That's the whole point of the test: newer cars are safer. 2) The Volvo has a longitudinal engine, which got pushed to the side in the collision. 3) The collision was not head-on because head-on collisions are very rare in real life. Offset collisions like this one are much more common. 4) EuroNCAP includes both offset and full-width frontal collision tests, in addition to side impact, pedestrian etc.

This video is meant to show the difference between old and new cars, and it's ignorant to think volvo had no engine in it. Renault models are one of the safest and no other brand has as many five stars on Euro NCAP as Renault does. So quit talking nosense.
